Mentoring

Mentoring

Students, mentors, parents, school administrators, and community partners have recognized many benefits of our mentorship program.

“The wealth of information, opportunities and support offered are exactly what our students’ need. The transition into post-secondary is introduced in a way that students are encouraged not to see it as something they couldn’t achieve.”

It allows a space for peer support and growth as students share personal, academic, and leadership experiences and resources with each other.

Witnessing the success of peer-to-peer mentoring has encouraged other community partners and schools to consider developing further opportunities.

Stakeholders identify ongoing support for students’ present studies, personal growth, and post-secondary or career goals as significant features of the program.

Both mentors and community partners indicate that participation in the Dogwood 25 program has increased their networking and collaboration opportunities with other programs and resources.

Dogwood 25’s outreach and engagement efforts have increased student awareness of and participation in relevant programs, post-secondary and career events, conferences, and field trips.

One stakeholder expressed, “The wealth of information, opportunities and support offered are exactly what our students’ need. The transition into post-secondary is introduced in a way that students are encouraged not to see it as something they couldn’t achieve.”
